The HTOO Foundation donated 25 lakh kyat for the international day of older persons, on October 1, 2015. The donated money was accepted by the international day of older persons accomplishment committee, which is setup under the Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Ministry.
The International Day of Older Persons is observed by all UN Member States on October 1 each year.
On December 14, 1990 the United Nations General Assembly voted to
establish October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons. So, the
holiday was observed for the first time on October 1, 1991.
The holiday is celebrated by raising awareness about issues affecting the elderly, such as senescence and elder abuse. It is also a day to appreciate the contributions that older people make to society.
The HTOO Foundation is conducting for the development of our country in the health, education and regional development sectors. We, the HTOO Foundation is profoundly happy as we got chance to help for the older persons as much as possible.
