Terrorists attacked the staff quarters of No.1 border post near Kyikanpyin Village, Maungtaw Township, and set fire to dozens of houses in Warpaik Village in the township yesterday.
About five terrorists shot at the staff quarters from a distant
hideout, but retreated when Tatmadaw troops fought back.
The attackers also set fire to Warpaik Village, destroying around 25 houses before withdrawing in a southeast direction.
The terrorists, who were hiding in the village, set fire to the dwellings when the troops of the Tatmadaw were conducting a coverage and patrolling mission in the villages.
The troops will continue to sweep the areas in nearby villages, it is learnt.
